Also in June: Glass Etching Workshop at Go-Glass in Cambridge

Let it be said, many times, that Cam City WI Members are super generous - none more than the lovely Tracy and Sharon.

Tracy works for Go-Glass in Cambridge and she and colleagues, Clive and apprentice Byron, were our hosts for a specialised workshop in Glass etching, using their industrial sand-blaster!

We were treated to an informal but informative history of glass from Tracy, before Clive led us with practical demos and presentation of some of his extremely artistic pieces.  Clive got us into groups, some immediately getting to grips with the blasting by creating a pre-prepared 'Cheeseboard' design, and the other group by drawing and cutting their own free hand designs ready to apply to the glass to be blasted!

We all got a turn to look like mad glass scientists in the white coats and we each were encourage to produce a Cheeseboard and a freehand piece to take home! With such creative results!

The wonderful Sharon fully catered for our hungry tums with a buffet feast! We were honestly so full and happy afterwards that we slightly ran over the time finishing, cleaning and wrapping our pieces for home time.

Our utter thanks and gratitude to Tracy and the Go Glass Team and to Sharon for being so generous as to allow Cam City WI to donate the entire workshop ticket price to our Charity of the Year, Cambridge Rape Crisis Centre.

We had so much fun and we continue to be stunned at the generosity of our members and this local business.
