Nikki B - Assistant Treasurer

What do you do for fun?/Hobbies and interests?

I always have to be doing something, preferably outside! I’m really into crafts, spend lots of time walking the hound and love spending time by the sea.

How did you get involved in the WI?

I wanted to meet some new people in Cambridge and had always wanted to join the WI (but thought I had to wait until I was at least 70). It’s been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Why did you join the committee?

They made me. . . Only kidding. I wanted to become more involved (mainly because I get to hang out with the other committee members more often) and I like a new challenge. They didn’t tell me about the spreadsheet though. . .

What is your favourite thing about the WI?

Definitely the people. We are such a diverse group but I love how well everyone gets on and there is always someone interesting to talk to. I also love the variety of speakers and activities we have.

What is your worst habit?

Putting smiley faces at the end of everything I write, being horrifically untidy and never finishing anything :)

Who would you most like to meet and why?

Martin Clunes. I feel we are destined to be best friends.

What is your craft?

I love anything crafty. My main hobby at the moment is crochet and I’m hoping to start a little Christmas decorations business this year.

What is/are your guilty pleasure(s)?

I have been known to drive to the supermarket, armed with a spoon, so that I can scoff an entire trifle in my car on the days when life gets too much! I love trifle days.

What are your committee responsibilities?

I am treasurer in training! I’m responsible for paying in any money we take and will soon be responsible for the accounts.

What do you do?

I am a Crown Court clerk. I dress up in a Harry Potter gown and I am the Judge’s right-hand woman. I sit at the front of court, keeping a log of the hearing and reading out some quite obscure charges to the defendants. It’s hard work but every day is very, very different!

What is your poison?

Cocktails! Or a snowball :)
